One thing that always irks me is that the military industrial complex lobbying groups are comprised of big oil and defense companies. What could be a bigger windfall for big oil and defense businesses than a gigantic war with Iran?
In my view, nothing! It makes perfect sense — drive oil prices up by 50% and increase defense spending revenues at the expense of the lowly taxpayer, obedient soldiers, and the poor Iranian civilians who are driven into the army out of necessity.
War with Iran fills a lot of voids in the budget discussions as well — how will we be able to cut expenditures if we have to attack Iran? War powers and NDAA will also put the nation’s power structure decidedly under the executive branch. In other words, in a time of war thanks to the War Powers Act and others, the country is basically a 4 year elected monarchy with the Federal Reserve ultimately ruling over everyone.
Higher oil and gas prices brought on by war with Iran benefits everyone, except for the American people. While Iran is certainly taking provocative steps ultimately it is our sanctions that give them reasons to be aggressive. Yes, a nuclear Iran is “scary” but in the end all of the nations in that area seem to already have nukes and they never gather the attention of the corporate dinosaur media.
